Imtaz Khaliq is London’s first female tailor and one of the leading lights in the new couture tailoring movement. With a huge profile client base, having designed for pop star Dina Carroll, actress Michelle Pfeiffer, newsreader Kay Burley and supermodel Tatjana Pattiz; Imtaz’s work has also been featured in numerous high profile magazines and television programmes. Imtaz launched her couture tailoring business in Battersea in 1991 after studying tailoring in Yorkshire and fashion and elated subjects at the London College of Fashion and in the States. In parallel with her tailoring business Imtaz maintains a strong academic interest, and has taught marketing and fashion courses at the University of Westminster, the London College of Fashion and in Wales. Her inspirational story was included in the book ‘Moving on Up’ edited by Sarah Brown.
