Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst and Young in London and graduated in Law from Cambridge University, Karan Bilimoria started Cobra Beer from scratch in 1989. Today, it is one of the fastest growing beer brands in the UK, has been exported to more than 30 countries worldwide and is well on its way to becoming a mainstream global beer brand. Karan was recently presented with the Albert Medal by the RSA, has been honoured as Business Person of the Year at the London Business Awards 2004, organised by the London Chamber of Commerce and is a Visiting Entrepreneur at Cambridge University. He is also Chairman of the SME Board of the government’s National Employment Panel (NEP) and is a patron of the Thare Mache Starfish Initiative, Rethink mental health illness and Is Chairman of the advisory board of The Loomba Trust for the education of children of poor widows.
