Sumerah Ahmad completed her Law degree from City University specialising in Copyright Law but realised that her vocation lay in Media. She followed her creative instincts to complete a NVQ level 3 Foundation training in Film and Video Production. This led her to work with a number of prestigious companies in the British Film Industry, working on feature films such as South West Nine. Her own short film ‘Too Many Balls’, a comic but poignant comment on the Brit-Asian lifestyle, was selected for Bite the Mango Film Festival 2004 in Bradford. Now Sumerah is Co-Founder and Creative Director of ClubAsia Radio, London’s contemporary hit music station. She translated the ClubAsia vision into every aspect of the company’s music, programming and production strategy, whilst inspiring recruits into the new ClubAsia culture. Such energy and sense of purpose is typical of Sumerah. Given her vast musical knowledge Sumerah is now considered an authority on Asian music and as such has been asked to sit on the judging panel of this year’s British Asian Music Awards produced by Carlton Television.
