Added Dimensions for Entry to Employment (AD4e2e)

The Added Dimensions project was managed by Business & Education in London South and co-financed by the London South Learning & Skills Council and European Social Fund.

Added Dimensions is a new initiative designed to recruit businesses willing to offer work experience placements and employability events to students in the South London area.

Added Dimensions is part of the national ‘Entry to Employment’, (e2e), initiative designed to help students who have not had the best start in life who wish to turn themselves around and work towards qualifications and a better future. The students that enrol on the e2e scheme do so voluntarily; they genuinely want to learn and improve and are committed towards working in a particular field or profession. Gaining experience within their chosen field is a key element of the training programme.

Many of these students will begin the e2e programme with low self-esteem and confidence issues; literacy and numeracy problems; difficulties to overcome at home; limited social and life skills; and a lack of successful life and work experiences. But they do have skills and talents – which are drawn out during the programme

Added Dimensions is an opportunity for businesses in South London to help give them the break they need.

The Added Dimensions project was successfully completed in March 2007. The project managed to benefit a total of 569 e2e students exceeding our target of 500 by 69. The project proved to be a great success with everyone that participated, which is demonstrated by the amount of positive feedback given by both tutors and students.

The Added Dimensions Project also created an online Veryan system to help with the Work Experience process. The online system is now available to be used by Training Providers nationally. The online system can be found at www.veryanonline.net/adims. To request a Username and Password please email info@bels.org.uk

To request a copy of the ‘Work Experience Procedures CD’ for the Added Dimensions project please email info@bels.org.uk

The BELS team would like to thank everyone involved in the Added Dimensions project for making it such a great success.
