Educational Recycling Project
Early last year BELS embarked on the development of an environmental recycling project which aims to work with schools and local communities to improve the levels of environmental awareness of young people and the recycling undertaken by schools and the local communities within which these schools are located.
The plan is to involve school governors, head teachers, teachers, parents, children and students in recycling schemes and other activities to improve the environment. This is to be linked to awareness training and recycling activities to educate children and students about the importance of recycling and the environment, thereby providing a path to a greener future. The intention is to provide schools with educational materials such as lesson plans and to assist with the development of projects - including enterprise related projects - associated with key stage learning objectives. This would be supported by fact sheets that can be downloaded from a project website.
A dynamic partnership, including environmental organisations, has been established to drive the project forward and discussions are now at an advanced stage.
