This workshop is a mixture of knowledge sharing, sign posting and the positives and negatives of different routes of applying to work.
The information is backed up by evidence and stories relating to individuals who have varying responses based on the avenue they have decided to choose to apply for work. In this workshop we look at letters of application, which cover; application forms speculative letters and covering letters. Examples are given to learners and the context in which they are used for are described to them.
Also in this workshop the learners have the opportunity to speak to an actual employer regarding a fictional vacancy that they want to apply for to request further information on the opportunity.
Prior to making the phone call learners are supported in planning the structure of the phone call and what questions are appropriate to ask. By undertaking this task individuals learn to plan and benefit from the importance of listening and noting down information.
