ABOUT BELS
Barnet Education and Learning Service (BELS) is a limited company wholly owned by Barnet council. We are in a strategic partnership with the council to provide its education services.

Educational progress and achievement have improved consistently in recent years in Barnet. 97% of Barnet schools are good or outstanding and Barnet is now in the top 10% for almost all measures of achievement in schools and the top 5% for many of the measures.

Barnet Education and Learning Service delivers the council’s statutory education services, including school improvement, special educational needs, admissions, school place planning, post-16 education and skills. BELS also provides traded services to schools and settings in Barnet, equipping them with the latest tools, training, and programmes to improve school standards and pupil outcomes.
Empowering Educators
At BELS, we stay abreast of new developments and best practices to empower teachers and governors with the information they need to implement a rich and relevant curriculum that meets the needs of their pupils in a changing world.

With many of our team members having previous experience in education, we recognise the unique talents and experiences teachers and governors bring to their schools and settings and provide practical strategies that are not only informed by the best available research, but highlight these strengths.
Committed to Excellence
We are proud to play a part in creating resilient communities where pupils are high-achieving and engaged by providing schools and settings with everything they need to help pupils reach their goals - from acting as the Appropriate Body for Early Career Teachers to our innovative services, like the Barnet Partnership for School Improvement (BPSI) or Connect.
The services we provide at BELS have been demonstrated to lead to excellent outcomes for schools and settings and their pupils, seeing higher Ofsted rankings and increased pupil attainment in the schools and settings where we work.
