Following Barnet's Ofsted and Care Quality Commission (CQC) joint area SEND inspection which took place between 17-21 January 2022, the feedback letter from Ofsted and the CQC highlights the excellent work that has been achieved by BELS and other partners to realise the intentions of the SEND Reforms that came about in 2014. Unlike many other local authorities recently inspected, Barnet is not required to produce a Written Statement of Action.
Inspectors were able to see evidence of good and effective partnership working, including excellent co-production work with our parents and, most importantly, great outcomes for our children and young people.
Areas for improvement include access to therapies, ASD diagnosis, and shortening the waiting time for CAMHS appointments; an action plan will be developed to drive forward these improvements so we can continue to provide excellent support to children and young people with SEND and their families.
